Joe Root has insisted that he is the man to take England’s cricket team forward despite criticism of his captaincy.
During the Ashes, Test captain Root believed 325 runs at 32.5, the next most runs from an England player and the sixth most overall.
In addition, he took three wickets in 40.66 and created seven grabs, with just wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow producing more for its hosts.
However his batting has endured and Australia retained the Ashes however, Root claims he’s the perfect person to lead the side in future.
He explained:”I need to be 100 per cent. I love it.
“I’m very honoured to captain England and I want to take this team forward.
“I truly do believe I’m the perfect person to take action. Hopefully I can get the backing and I will prove everyone right.”
The 28-year-old Yorkshire batsman also admitted the famous strategy to turn on their white-ball match of England, this summer, culminating in their World Cup win that was magnificent, had to be replicated from red-ball cricket.
