Anthony Joshua’s team have sparring programs in place after discovering it hard to replicate that the Mexican before their fight.
Since Joshua tries to avenge his shock New York conquer britain celebrity has started to prepare for his second world title battle against Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia on December 7, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Ruiz Jr stepped into a late replacement following Jarrell Miller failed a drug test and promoter Eddie Hearn admits the change of opponent wasn’t excellent for Joshua’s training camp, but the Matchroom Boxing boss disclosed how early attempts have now been made to organize suitable sparring partners.
“It is so difficult to replicate the design of Andy Ruiz,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “The man is 6’1”, he is 19st, and he’s got speed just like a middleweight.
“It is one thing becoming a sparring partner in, it is getting them to allow their hands go against Anthony Joshua. Would you want to do this? You have got to be angry to even spar with him combat with him.
“We’ve got more heavyweights than anybody. I don’t really need them helping Andy Ruiz out. We’ve already identified likely men who we think are the mould.
“Among the problems last time was we had six months to prepare. Ruiz was coming off Alexander Dimitrenko, which was a style to prepare for Anthony Joshua.
“We attempted to get the sparring in, we fought a bit, no excuses, but this time around the preparation has got to be spot on. There’s seven men we have already identified and they make the trip and we can find the best preparation this time around.”
Ruiz and joshua Jr is going to be reunited again in Friday’s press conference in London along with the challenger has cautioned that he fully intends to regain his straps.
“I lost in the World Championship finals. Imagine I stopped then, there could be no now,” said Joshua.
“Stopping is not within my DNA. So long as I have breath, I will continue fighting for boxing’s enthusiasm and much more so as a ambassador for championship-level fighting. That’s where I belong.
“I had been born with a fighting spirit. I understand how to battle.
“People say,’you lost your names’. I say,’to drop something is never to get it back’.
“I have another chance on December 7. I didn’t have a warm-up struggle, I am not gun-shy.
