Anthony Joshua’s team has already identified ideal sparring partners ahead of Andy Ruiz Jr rematch
Anthony Joshua’s team have after finding it difficult to replicate that the Mexican before their very first battle sparring programs in place.
Since Joshua attempts to avenge his shock New York defeat in June britain star has begun to prepare to his second world title battle against Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia on December 7, now live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Ruiz Jr stepped in as a late replacement following Jarrell Miller failed a drug test and promoter Eddie Hearn admits the change of opponent was not great for Joshua’s training camp, however, the Matchroom Boxing manager revealed how early attempts have now been forced to arrange appropriate sparring partners.
“It is so tough to replicate the style of Andy Ruiz,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “The man is 6’1”, he is 19st, and he’s got pace like a middleweight.
“It’s 1 thing becoming a sparring partner in, it’s getting them to let their hands move against Anthony Joshua. Would you would like to do this? You have got to be mad to spar with him combat him.
“We’ve got more heavyweights than anybody. I don’t really want them helping out Andy Ruiz. We have already identified probably men who we think are the perfect mould.
“One of the difficulties last time was we had six weeks to prepare. Ruiz came from Alexander Dimitrenko, which was really a wonderful style to get ready to Anthony Joshua.
“We tried to find the sparring at, we fought a bit, no explanations, but this time round the preparation has to be put on. There is seven men we have already identified and hopefully they make the trip we can get the best prep around this time.”
Ruiz and joshua Jr is going to be reunited again in Friday’s press conference in London and the challenger has warned that he fully intends to regain his belts.
“I dropped in the World Championship finals. Imagine I stopped then, there will be no today,” said Joshua.
“Stopping is not within my DNA. I will keep fighting boxing’s enthusiasm and fighting. That’s where I belong.
“I had been born with a fighting spirit. I understand how to fight.
“People say,’you lost your titles’. I say,’to lose something is not to get it back’.
“I have another chance on December 7. I used ton’t have a warm-up fight, I am not gun-shy.
