Jose Mourinho and Tottenham: A match made in heaven … or hell?
Considering that the transformation of the parties in the last several decades, the appointment in Tottenham of Jose Mourinho feels like an antithetical match.
Mourinhos most recent stint in control of a team was to be one of the teams on the continent while the north west London club established a reputation.
However, for all of the negativity surrounding tactics and his attitude Mourinho handled something Pochettino did not in five decades in Tottenham: winning trophies.
The Portuguese led United to the Europa League and League Cup to become the first supervisor in the history to win a trophy in his debut year at the center of United.
It feels as though Tottenham is currently balanced and level head is required to secure the boat if perhaps a calm , the club has rather taken a gamble on a mentor that has a history of feathers.

There are obviously concerns about how Jose and our clubs Executive Board will function together and we are sure all fans could appreciate increased clarity on how the club sees this connection operating in training, that the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust said in a statement.
The questions about transfer coverage, salary and accountability raised in our previous announcement on Mauricio Pochettinos sacking still implement and we encourage the club to communicate their strategies completely and transparently with their fan base.
Check out the trajectory of the Portugueses profession indicates the partnership between both Spurs and its own manager is very likely to go in one of two extreme directions, with just a small chance of there being anything in between: Both Mourinho and Tottenham win trophies or the connection implodes spectacularly.
Chairman Daniel Levy, naturally, is expecting — and for this appointment, gambling — that itll be the prior.
The club has to ensure it does not find itself in precisely the same position in a couple of years time, added the Trust announcement. And we need to hear in the Executive Board exactly what the long term significance behind this appointment is and how it sees its own role.
As a supporters organization, we hope to get a prosperous future which respects the special Tottenham Hotspur individuality as well as the traditions Spurs fans treasure so dearly.
Stagnation
Having spent more than one billion dollars on establishing what is arguably the greatest sports stadium in the world, Tottenham has an obligation.
It was reported that the club wage structure broke to tie talisman Harry Kane to a new long term contract however, the expenditure on the stadium supposed Pochettino was hamstrung from the transport market.
Moreover, any team requires the addition of fresh faces to avoid stagnation — and that wasnt a luxury afforded to Pochettino.
In 2018, the team became the history to not sign a single player .
No signings were made in the 2019 winter transfer window and it was not until the summer of 2019 before Tottenham eventually added some fresh faces in the form of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.

Coupled with the pace of gamers — Kieran Trippier has been offered in a bargain that was cut-price to Atletico Madrid — Pochettino was forced to basically use the exact faces for the past 3 seasons.
Following the defeat to Liverpool in last years Champions League final, the Argentine wasnt provided to reconstruct a squad in need of an injection of life.
The team has also allowed the contracts of several of its star players operate without renewal, leaving Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen free to proceed in the summer, although Danny Rose last week announced that he wouldnt be re-signing following his contract expires in the summer of 2021.
Tears or trophies?
Mourinho has always been provided with a huge transfer finance he has gone, which, if that is once again the case in Spurs, increases the question: Why would Levy him back financially and not Pochettino?
The Argentine is in many ways the antithesis of Mourinho; the manager who creates groups that are the sum of their components develops gamers and plays with football.
The excellent fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning, Danny Blanchflower, Spurs 1961 double-winning captain, after said. Its nothing of this sort. The game is about glory, so it is about doing things in style along having a flourish.
So how does Mourinho fit in with this Spurs tradition?
Even though theres been little glory on display this season, Tottenhams capitulation has been notable so severe that its form was of one fighting relegation rather than challenging for trophies.
Any slip down the table and away from regular Champions League soccer would be a disaster, both from a athletic and monetary standpoint.
No team has ever finished in the top four of their Premier League following documenting as several factors as Spurs 12 after 14 games so far this season. Mourinho will have to begin working his magic.
It would not be a trophy if Mourinho is able to achieve Champions League qualification and make history but, in the long term, it may be worth a whole lot more.
However, the process may be painful. Throughout his contentious career, the 56-year-old and resistance managers, club owners and even his fans in clashes have fought , scarcely summoned himself to the masses.
Yet Mourinhos record in what is a career of 25 significant trophies is possibly Levy believed it was a risk worth taking.
Only time will tell — probably few decades in Mourinhos situation — whether Levy has supported the ideal horse.
