Last night, the Arizona Diamondbacks came to Milwaukee with no interest in playing. The Brewers held on for an easy 6-1 victory and acquired out early into a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. Merrill Kelly had an off night for the Diamondbacks. Kelly ultimately finished with 8 hits and 6 earned runs allowed in 4.1 innings. This was all the runs for the Brewers, since the Diamondbacks bullpen pitched after Kellys wreck and settled in.
The Diamondbacks not came back using their crime playing that, however. Jordan Lyles no-hit the Diamondbacks in 6 innings, but the Brewers didnt get the. The way Zac Gallen has been pitching this year, Im not sure the Marlins are thrilled about trading him away. It was a prospect for prospect deal along with the Diamondbacks are seeing results. Gallen was solid with the Marlins, posting a 2.72 ERA and seven starts. As hes improved since leaving Miami, the commerce hasnt seemed to bother him a bit. Its only been three begins as a Diamondback and Gallen was effective with a 1.80 ERA in 15 innings.
Having said that, Gallens resume has never been sterile. Yes, he let just 3 earned runs in ten innings. But a closer look suggests that he needed to work hard to ensure potential. Against the Rockies, Gallen let 9 hits and a walk in 4 innings. He was lucky to get out of Coors Field with just 2 earned runs allowed.
The same thing occurred in his second outing. He gave up only 1-run in 6 innings, but got into trouble. Gallen yielded 5 hits and 6 walks, as his controller was a bit all over the place. Some young pitcher can be caught as much as by that quickly.
Gallens opponent tonight is currently coming from his excursion of the year. Chase Anderson never had it since he was rocked for 9 hits and 10 earned runs. Leading up to that match, Anderson was pitching nicely, without allowing more than just 3 runs in a match with ten games.
He allowed 2 or less eight out of tenyears. Anderson has been quite good against the Diamondbacks in the past, because they are hitting only .214 with 1 home run.
